About Shenghao Yang
Educator and Researcher
Shenghao Yang received his B.S. in Electronics Science from Nankai University in 2001, M.S. in Communication Engineering from Peking University in 2004, and Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2008. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo (2009) and at the Institute of Network Coding, CUHK (2010–2012), and an Assistant Professor at Tsinghua University (2012–2015). He joined CUHK-Shenzhen in 2015 as a Research Assistant Professor (2015–2017), then Assistant Professor (2017–2023), and is now an Associate Professor at the School of Science and Engineering.
His research interests are information theory and coding for network communication, security and computation; quantum information and computation; and AI theory and systems. He has published 105 papers in international journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. He is the co-inventor of BATS codes, holds 18 patents, and maintains 3 open-source software projects. He co-founded n-hop technologies in 2018 to develop coding-based network communication technologies.
